Barry Norling is a self-styled, self-taught sculptor. Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, he moved to Maine in 1971 with his wife Abigail. They live on their 115 acre farm which is where Barry creates his unique and often humorous array of weathervanes, fountains and sculpture. His inspirations come from both the farm and his family and, many pieces are purely a reflection of the artist's sense of humor and his personal view of natural beauty and wildlife. His weathervanes are made of copper and brass, are three dimensional and they're large, bold and spirited. Barry's pieces are hand-hammered and soldered and possess an uncanny quaility of life as is evident in his Heron and Osprey weathervanes that seem to soar as if in flight.
