Sid Bell was a geologist in Alaska and created many carvings that are hard-to-find and avidly collected. This carving of a retriever is crafted in an antique brass finish (shown in the photo). The base metal is brass. You may also order this in an antique silver finish or polished brass. This is Royden's hand fashioned top grain, oil tanned cowhide leather. The finish is a deep brown. Broomsedge Bob by Jack Tribble - Quail Wood Sculptures
This new wood carving is a unique one-of-a-kind scuplture by Jack Tribble. Carved from Tupelo Wood, the scene depicts a male standing on the edge of a sandy road with a female poking her head out of the broomsedge on the side of the road. This was meticulously and carefully carved - amounting to 200-plus hours of work. The base is constructed from heart pine and settings are made from materials native to quail habitat. This piece is numbered and named and bears a hand engraved brass plaque. Approximately 22' square base and total height with case 26' Base and framing for 5-sided glass case are constructed from heart pine. The brass plaque is hand engraved with the number and name of the piece. Setting materials include broomsedge, coral bean and native flora. Sporting Artisans will donate 5% of the purchase price from any original or commissioned wood carving by Jack Tribble to the Longleaf Alliance. Rhett Johnson is the co-founder of the Longleaf Alliance and has recently retired as Director of the Solon Dixon Center. He and Beth Maynor-Young are collaborating on a book on the Longleaf Forest to support the efforts of the Longleaf Alliance. It i scheduled for publishing in the Spring of 2009. The longleaf forest is the most diverse ecosystem in North America, second only to the rain forest. It is said that the longleaf forest without fire is like the rainforest without rain. The Longleaf Alliance has an ambitious restoration plan for the Longleaf forest in the South. They have just begun photography on this project and hope to raise enough funds to have the photography completed by January 2009.
