"My flight from L.A. to Kansas to participate in the Celebrity Sporting Clays Shoot to benefit St. Jude's Hospital arrived late Friday night. Most of the other celebrities had gathered for a hootenanny of sorts with all the talented musicians who were there. One young man stood out: He played guitar and harmonica and sang original works. These were story songs to which real people could relate.

The next morning I arose early for breakfast and was told that the celebrity van would not leave for thirty minutes. I said that I would just walk and they said, "But it's three or four miles", when out of the blue a voice popped up and said, "I'll go with you." So, T.J. Klay, the talented young man from the previous night and I started on our merry way.

I found that we had an unusual amount of things in common, we were both born in Sioux City, Iowa, had a deep respect for Roy Rogers and a profound gratitude for our luck to be citizens of the greatest nation in the world, the United States. However, he could express this much better than I ever hope to through his music.

So I am pleased to introduce to you, my friend, T.J. Klay. I hope you enjoy his works as much as I do."
